Hoge Hall
Hoge Hall (LEE, #30) is an 824 person, co-ed dormitory located in the Prairie Community. The building itself is clad in Hokie Stone and was first occupied in 1967. On May 30, 1968, the building was dedicated to Claudius Lee. Renaming has been periodically reconsidered since 1997, when it was discovered that Lee was listed as President of the KKK in an old yearbook. In August of 2020, the Board of Visitors voted to rededicate the building to the late William and Janie Hoge, a local African American couple who played a critical role in the success and well-being of the first African American students attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute in the 1950s, including hosting Irving L. Peddrew III when he arrived in Blacksburg in 1953.
Lee Hall's penthouse is the highest point in Blacksburg and was home to the broadcast antenna for WUVT until summer 2009, when broadcasting for WUVT was relocated to Price Mountain.
Theme Housing
Since fall 2012, Lee Hall hosts the majority of the theme housing programs at Virginia Tech, including Galileo, Hypatia, and the Biological and Life Sciences Learning Community. Previously, the only theme housing programs in the residence hall were Galileo and the Biological and Life Sciences Learning Community,
