'''OSSIE''' is an [[wikipedia:Software Communications Architecture|SCA]]-based open source software defined radio project at Virginia Tech. The name was originally an acronym of "Open Source SCA Implementation::Embedded". The project's aim is to enable research and education by providing a platform, tools and educational materials. The core framework is written in C++ using CORBA, with some tools and components written in Python. OSSIE is licensed under the GPLv2. It is directed by [[Carl Dietrich]] and has been under development since 2003. OSSIE falls under the umbrella of the [[Wireless@VT]] group.
