As for guidelines, no hard guidlines rules are yet in place.  It is preferable to use proper names as the main page for an article and redirect with any abbreviations or nicknames. Also, Virginia Tech is the assumed namespace, if you will, so leaving . Leaving off "at Virginia Tech" is probably a good an easy way to not let keep article names get too longshort.
