2600 of the New River Valley
2600 of the New River Valley is a meeting of hackers, technologists, and other interested folks at Virginia Tech. It formerly met on the first Friday of every month, when school is in session, at 7:00pm in Squires Student Center, but is currently inactive. It was founded in the spring of 2008 by two students who met each other through Free Culture.
The Hacker Quarterly
2600: The Hacker Quarterly is a paper quarterly that has been publishing hacking, phreaking, technology and society-related articles since 1984. In addition to the magazine, meetings, such as 2600 of the New River Valley and 2600 Charlottesville, and the hacker convention HOPE are held under its name.
