Whitehurst Hall (BAR, #26) is a 220 person, all-male dormitory located on the President's Quad. The building, constructed primarily out of Hokie Stone and concrete, was completed in 1962 and was originally dedicated on May 16, 1966 to Paul Brandon Barringer, a former Virginia Tech President and noted eugenicist. In August of 2020, the building was re-dedicated to James Leslie Whitehurst Jr. '63, the first Black student permitted to live on campus in 1961, and later the first Black member of the Board of Visitors
