OSSIE is an SCA-based open source software defined radio project at Virginia Tech. The name was originally an acronym of "Open Source SCA Implementation::Embedded". The project's aim is to enable research and education by providing a platform, tools and educational materials. The core framework is written in C++ using CORBA, with some tools and components written in Python. OSSIE is licensed under the GPLv2. It is directed by Carl Dietrich and has been under development since 2003. OSSIE falls under the umbrella of the Wireless@VT group.
