Renaming has been periodically reconsidered since 1997, when it was discovered that Lee was listed as President of the KKK in an old yearbook. In August of 2020, the [[Galileo Engineering Learning CommunityBoard of Visitors]], which occupies voted to rededicate the building to the sixth late [[William and seventh floorsJanie Hoge]], a local African American couple who played a critical role in the success and well-being of the first African American students attending Virginia Polytechnic Institute in the 1950s, including hosting [[Biological and Life Sciences Learning CommunityIrving L.
