The Autonomous Underwater Vehicle Team (AUVT) is an academic curricular student organization devoted to designing and building an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) for an annual international AUV competition held in San Diego, CA. For the past four years, the team has used Ubuntu and other software libre extensively, and the vehicle itself runs Ubuntu as its operating system. The team is housed in the Ware Laboratory. Its faculty advisors are Daniel Stilwell and Craig Woolsey.

The competition is hosted by Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and the Office of Naval Research (ONR). The AUV team is multidisciplinary, requiring students with strengths from mechanical design and building things to programming.
