The steam tunnels are a series of tunnels that run underneath Virginia Tech's campus to supply the majority of buildings with steam, electricity, and communications.
In February 2012, the Virginia Tech Police responded to a call and discovered a cache of exotic animals in the steam tunnels that were apparently being cared for, possibly by a student who was unable to keep them in her dorm.[1]
