Cycling is a great way to get around the Virginia Tech campus and Blacksburg. Cyclists are permitted on all sidewalks and shared pathways on campus. Biking on sidewalks within Town of Blacksburg limits, or across any crosswalk is however prohibited. Campus police will warn cyclists going the wrong way around Drillfield Drive. There are several bike shops around town including Hokie Spokes, the Bike Barn and East Coasters. The Huckleberry Trail is a great route for longer rides.
Beginning in fall 2010, the Virginia Tech Police began placing bait bikes equipped with GPS trackers in bike racks around campus in an attempt to combat bike theft.
