The Math Emporium or Empo is a large computer lab operated by Virginia Tech. It opened in 1997 with the aim of improving learning outcomes in high-enrollment math courses. Since opening in 1997, it has had lockers.
Many freshman-level math courses are taught online through the Math Emporium. Some students find the use of Comic Sans on their quizzes and practice material for these classes jarring, and have resorted to uninstalling that font in order to force their browsers to choose a different one.
