'''Godmar Back''' is an associate professor in [[Computer Science]]. He joined the department in 2004, and was granted associate professor status in 2010. Until joining Virginia Tech, he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at Stanford University.

Dr. Back grew up in Sonneburg, Germany and attended the Götheschule in Ilmenau. From 1989 to 1993, he studied at the Humboldt University Berlin and Technical University Berlin. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of Utah in 2002.
